About ESNAU

Strengthening farmers, enabling agribusiness, and building a sustainable agricultural future for Eswatini.

History & Legal Status

Eswatini National Agricultural Union (ESNAU) is an apex body for all farmer organizations in Swaziland. It was established with the support from the Eswatini Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Union (SACAU) following the demand by farmers in 2007 at the National Agricultural Summit. At the summit farmers strongly recommended the establishment of an independent apex body that will represent farmers, promote and safeguard their interest. The aim of the ESNAU is to promote and safeguard the interest of farmers in Eswatini by linking farmers with stakeholders, facilitating a favorable environment for production, access to land, water, markets, research and technology for improvement of their livelihoods.

    Governance and reporting lines

The association is an organization established by national farmers which are themselves membership based. At the apex is the Annual General Meeting that consists of all the members of the Union from the four regions of Swaziland; Hhohho, Manzini, Lubombo and Shiselweni. The AGM elects the executive committee, which directs the Secretariat. The Secretariat periodically reports to the Executive Committee on the operations of ESNAU. The Secretarial also provides support to the four regions.
